itinerary IT1 - Grecìa salentina
In the heart of Salento, there is an area whose language, rites and traditions are of Greek origin.
Our tour will start from St.Paul's Chapel in Galatina where every year on June 29 at dawn tourists come to visit the place where in the past women who were thought to have been stung by a poisonous spider danced the "pizzica". It is an obsessive therapeutic music you can listen to and dance yourselves which reproduces the ancient Dionysiac rites. The tour continues with the visit to the magic tower of Raimondello in Soleto and to the mysterious Lucchetti archway rich in esoteric symbols in Corigliano d'Otranto.
We will go then to Sternatia to look for the scjacuddhi's den and to see the enormous subterranean oil mill.
Our tour finishes in Calimera where we will pass through a nemanthol (a big stone with a hole) set in the small church of S.Vito. It's for luck.
itinerary IT2 - the stones that tell of ancient myths and legends
Our tour starts with the Messapic Hypogeum of Torre Pinta in Otranto, set in the Memory Valley, so called because of the many grottoes and subterraneous crypts where the monks and heremits used to live and worshipped.
We visit then the dolmens and menhirs in the megalithic area and the Old Witch's Spindle. The latter tells of an old witch and of an ogre and of the buried treasures and a big stone foot recalls Hercules's legends.
We finish our tour visiting the Church of the Devil in Tricase and the Madonna del Lattarico in Andrano.
